Data Fellows reports that the Wobbler or California virus alert is a
hoax.
For more information, refer to the following web page:
http://www.europe.datafellows.com/hoaxes/wobbhoax.htmWhenever
you hear of a virus alert, I would advise checking it out first
before
passing it on. A thorough list of such hoaxes can be found at
http://www.europe.datafellows.com/virus-info/hoax/
. While I am grateful
that people are concerned enough to forward these
alerts, hoaxes such as
this one are started by malicious people and spread by
people who think they
are helping their friends and colleagues.
Unfortunately, there have been
instances when the sheer volume of e-mail
virus warnings has caused
companies' e-mail systems to
collapse.
